We are beginning the 3rd quarter focusing on grammar. We will introduce other topics as the quarter progresses
Grammar is the study of the way words are used to make sentences .Our class will focus on the eight parts of speech.
NOUN: A noun is person,place,thing,or idea. We will be learning and dissecting ten different types of nouns.
The 10 noun types we will be interacting with include the following list:
COMMON NOUNS:A noun denoting a class of objects or a concept as opposed to a particular individual.
Me and my friend Bob went the to the school to play basketball.
PROPER NOUNS:An name used for an individual person,place,or organization spelled with initial capital letters.
Mom went to the store to get ice cream.
Material noun: is a grammar term that refers to a substance from which things are made such as sliver,gold,iron,cotton,diamond and plastic.
pronouns:a word that can function by itself as noun phrase and that refers either to the participants in the discourse
They like my shoes.
Abstract noun:A noun denoting an idea,quality,or state rather than a concrete object .
Concrete noun: Are thing s that you can experience through your five senses;sight.smell ,hearing,taste and touch.
collective noun:can be used in either the singular or plural depending on the context of the sentence.
uncountable nouns:nouns that you can't count
I drunk some milk out the milk jug.
countable nouns:nouns that you can count.
I pick three apples off the tree.
